About the Optimist Club of Caroline County
The Optimist Club of Caroline County was founded in 1999. It is part of Optimist International.
The founding had over 30 charter members. Meetings were held once a month. The current membership is approximately 20.
Today’s Optimist Club holds quarterly membership meetings and the Board of Directors meets monthly to officiate Club business. The officers include: President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer and a Director. Additional directors can be added upon a majority vote by the membership.
There is currently no regular meeting location for membership and Board meetings. Union Bank & Trust in Ladysmith has often donated space for this purpose. The Club sends out regular mailings to update the members on important dates and projects approved by the Board of Directors.
Dues are $85 for the first year and $70 for every year after. Dues can be paid in half-year installments or at one time.
The Optimist Club of Caroline County maintains the same mission as all clubs throughout the world – to serve the youth of the community. Money raised and expended are for youth-oriented programs. The Caroline chapter is non-profit organization and uses the tax ID number from the international authorities.
